Why Authenticity Matters

The sports memorabilia market has grown dramatically in recent years. Fans and collectors everywhere want to own a real piece of history, whether it’s a signed shirt, a race-used glove, or a limited-edition print.

But with that demand comes risk. Forgeries and unverified items have become more common, making trust more important than ever. At Wisbys, we believe knowing your item is genuine is not just reassuring—it’s essential.

Our Commitment

Authenticity isn’t just a promise. It’s part of who we are.

We built Wisbys on integrity, authenticity, and creating value for collectors. Every piece we offer is chosen to inspire, to preserve moments of greatness for the next generation, and to strengthen the community of fans who care about real stories and real history.

When you buy from us, you’re not just getting a product—you’re investing in the legacy behind it.

Certificates of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is your proof that an item is what it claims to be. It’s the industry standard for verifying that a signature or game-used item is genuine.

At Wisbys, we believe COAs matter because they protect you now—and in the future. If you ever choose to resell your item, a respected certificate helps ensure its value is preserved and its authenticity isn’t questioned.

We also know that no COA is 100% infallible. Mistakes can happen in any system. But requiring proper certification is our way of ensuring you’re buying with the best safeguards available.

Understanding Signature Variations

It’s important to know that even genuine signatures can vary. Athletes and artists may change their signature style over time, sign quickly under pressure, or adjust based on the surface they’re signing.

That’s normal—and it’s part of what makes collecting so interesting. This also brings with it greater opportunity for forgeries and the need for experts who have been in the industry for years and know what to look for.

The trusted third party authenticators are trained to understand these variations, which is why relying on respected experts is so essential.

Keep an eye on our socials for additional, detailed explanations around the different certificate types from the major Authentication companies, some of the key ‘tell’s’ for a suspect signature and other content to help our community collect safely.

Our Process

We source our items carefully—from direct signings with athletes and artists, respected sellers, auctions, and private collections.

Every item we sell that requires verification will come with:

A certificate direct from the athlete or artist or a certificate from a respected third-party authentication company.

We trust companies whose reputations are built on strict standards and expertise. Our own policy is simple: we don’t offer items without proper documentation.
